This is the smart choice as a base for your adventures in the UK and beyond. Standard spec is 2-berth, upgrade to 4-berth with a pop top roof.
Buy a new unregistered van from us and not only will you get a great deal on the price of the van, the van will be registered as a motorcaravan from first registration. Choose from our range of stock vans or spec your own from factory from one of our reserved build slots. New unregistered base van builds are European whole vehicle type approved, NCC approved and the warranty period matches the base vehicle (3 years). CJL Leisure are one of only 6 VW Motorhome Qualified Converters.

Can I bring you a van to convert?
Yes – you can bring us a van to convert or buy a base vehicle from us. If you buy a VW from us you will benefit from a 3-year conversion warranty to match the 3-year mechanical warranty on the base vehicle. On a customer-supplied vehicle the warranty is 2 years. A panel van is the most cost-effective base van if you are looking for a full camper conversion.
What if I want a different base van to the ones you stock?
If you want to change the spec of the base vehicles we supply, we simply update the build spec on the next CJL van due to be built at factory. This means that unless there are VW factory production issues with a certain model or part, we are normally able to have your van built and delivered to us very quickly. Alternatively you can supply us with a base van to convert.
Can you retrofit heating to seats?
Yes – we are able to retrofit heating to your seats. Please note the on/off switch will be on the seat, not on the dash.
What are the bespoke elements of the conversion?
You are able to choose the colour and finish of the furniture set and overhead cupboards, bed board, kitchen work surface, kitchen splash back, floor and seat upholstery – both trim and stitch pattern. We have a wide range of options so that you can make your conversion bespoke to your taste. Our friendly team can offer you as much help as you need with making these choices.
Can I spec my van remotely?
Yes – you can spec your van remotely and we can send you all the info required to enable you to do this. However, if at all possible we do encourage a trip to CJL so that you can see the finish of the vehicles and be happy in the colour and finish choices of your vehicle.
Are you really VW Qualified?
Yes – there are 5 companies in the UK who are VW qualified motorhome converters including CJL Leisure. Many companies claim to be VW-qualified or approved when they are not. Do your homework and visit VW’s website (volkswagen-vans.co.uk) to check out who has made the grade and attained the right to advertise themselves as VW Motorhome Qualified Converters. They will also hold a certificate from VW.
What are the advantages of buying a camper from a VW-Qualified Converter?
Your vehicle will be ‘type approved’ so will be registered as a motorhome / camper from first registration. This means taxation class is less expensive than for commercial vehicles and speed limits are as per a car, providing the van is under 3.5T. The conversion is confirmed safe and fit for purpose by the NCC. The company has to have an established trading history and match VW’s 3-year mechanical warranty with a 3-year conversion warranty.
Do you offer habitation checks?
Yes – we run a team of compliance engineers who can carry out habitation checks on any camper / motorhome and issue a gas safety certificate. This preventative measure is an extremely important health check for your vehicle and CJL Leisure vans require an annual habitation check for the conversion warranty to remain valid.
Do you fit trackers?
Yes – trackers are a requirement of insurance for many of our customers. We are Smartrack-approved tracker fitters and offer a range of trackers to suit requirement. All are Thatcham-approved. Please note as van specialists we ony fit trackers to vans. We fit these to our conversions and as a standalone service.
Can you help with insurance?
Yes – our conversions are recognised by insurance companies who we can put you in touch with. This means you will not need to run through a conversion modifications list as the insurer has full details of your vehicle.
