LUCY CHARLES TO ‘JOIN’ CJL LEISURE

CJL Leisure Vehicles – leaders in bike van conversion market – have announced their sponsorship of pro triathlete, Lucy Charles-Barclay. Following the 2019 Ironman World Championship in Kona on Oct 12th – billed as a the toughest one-day race on the planet – CJL Leisure will be handing the keys to a fully-loaded VW T6 Triathlon Camper Conversion to the world-class athlete.

The luxury long wheel base camper features a CJL-engineered bike mount system allowing Lucy to travel and store road bikes safely inside the van without having to remove the wheels.

“We’ve engineered a bike mount system to provide safe transport of high-value bikes whilst still being able to travel up to 5 and sleep two,” said Cye Hayes, MD of CJL Leisure Vehicles Ltd. “Engineering underpins everything we do at CJL and sets us apart from the competition.”

When the bikes aren’t in the van, the OEM California double seat / bed simply slides back on the rails to leave a luxury spacious camper sleeping four, with all mod cons – fridge, gas hobs, sink etc – and plenty of space.

The association between the triathlete and CJL was born out of a talent search launched at the London Bike Show in March 2019, when CJL showcased a range of MTB and Triathlon vans, positioning themselves at the top of the bike van market.

“We think the best way for a van to show its merit is doing what it was built for and what better way to test and showcase a triathlon van than put it into the path of a top-flight triathlete – allowing her team the freedom to travel, train and race.

“Lucy’s now going into her off season which is one of the best times to get maximum use of the camper away from warm-weather training abroad.

There’s even a Thule cassette awning with LED’s – the ideal space under which to site a turbo trainer.

Lucy’s Triathlon Campervan layout is one of two dedicated triathlon / road bike van options available from CJL – the other triathlon layout offering a Kombiset-up – seating up to  – plenty of storage and a dedicated waterproof wetroom to store up to 5 bikes in the rear of the van.
